How to Restore Microscopes
- 1). Take inventory of your microscope, noting any components of the microscope that are in need of replacement or repair. Once complete, purchase any components that need to be repaired (such as new lenses, for example).
- 2). Replace or clean the lenses on your microscope if they are scratched or otherwise eroded. Remove the eyepiece, using a small screwdriver (the type of screwdriver depends on the screws used in the microscope), and carefully remove the lenses, taking care not to scratch them (unless you are replacing them).
- 3). Replace the bulb in the microscope by removing the metal base plate (upon which objects to be view are inserted) and removing the burnt out light bulb. Note the type of bulb used, and insert a new light bulb of a similar or identical type. Re-insert the metal base plate once completed.
- 4). Remove any components of the microscope that need to be replaced or repaired. If you are familiar with machinery, you may want to attempt to repair the component yourself; otherwise, consider buying new microscope components.
