    Wood Blind Types

    • Wood blinds operate similarly to a standard venetian blind. These blinds consist of slats that are held in place by string ladders. The slats can be tilted for light and privacy control with a tilt wand. Venetian wood blinds can be raised or lowered with a lift cord that is strung through the slats. These blinds are also available with vertical slats, and these operate with a lift cord.

    Woven Shade Types

    • Wooden woven shades are comprised of reeds, grasses, bamboo, rattan or wood strips. These materials are tightly woven together and can consist of pleats that lift up and down like a roman shade or roll up by hand or with cords.

    Wood Blind Benefits

    • Wood blinds come in a variety of colors and stains such as cherry, oak, maple, alder and mahogany. Some of the finishes are available showing the grain, while others do not. The slats are available in different widths, ranging from 1 to 2 inches. Many of the wood blinds are available with or without slat holes for additional light control.

    Woven Shade Benefits

    • Woven wooden shades come in a variety of natural earth tones that easily match modern decor. These blinds are environmentally friendly, since the trees such as bamboo replenish much quicker than oak or other trees. Many of these blinds are equipped with a liner or no slat holes for increased light control.

    Operation

    • Wood blinds and woven wooden shades raise and lower with cords attached to the side of the blinds. Both blinds are offered with a cordless option that operates with the pressure of your hand. These are ideal for homeowners with pets or small children who could get caught in the cords. There are motorized blinds that open and close with a remote control.

    Installation

    • Wood blinds are installed with brackets and screws to the wall. The blinds fit into the brackets. Woven shades are installed with two brackets attached with wing nuts.
