    • 1). Measure the length and width of your bed frame.

    • 2). Cut two strips of quilt batting that measure 18 inches wide and the length of your frame length. Cut two strips of quilt batting that measure 18 inches wide and the length of your frame width.

    • 3). Fold one of the longer strips twice lengthwise to created a folded strip that measures 6 inches wide. Tape one end of this strip to one corner of the head of the bed frame. Center the strip so the same amount of batting protrudes above and below the frame. Smooth the batting over the length of the frame and tape the other end of the strip to the corner on the foot of the frame.

    • 4). Fold the other strips in a similar manner and tape them to the sides of the bed frame. You now have a strip covering each of the four sides of the frame.

    • 5). Make a small slit through the batting directly above the frame 1 foot from a corner. Make a similar slit directly below the frame. Tape the batting to the frame by sliding the tape through the slits. This will leave the overhang above and below the frame intact.

    • 6). Make slits and tape the batting to the frame every 12 inches all around the frame. This will secure the batting strips to the frame while leaving a padded edge above and below the metal.

    • 7). Make your bed as usual. The padding will soften the contact between the bed frame and the bed skirt, giving a gentle rise to the angle instead of a sharp crease.
