How to Design Your Own Holiday Photo Cards
- 1). Open your design software and create a new document. Feel free to use any design software you have installed on your computer such as photo imaging, graphic design or word processing software. Set the document size to 4 inches by 6 inches or 5 inches by 7 inches.
- 2). Click the color palette and choose a color to use for the background of your photo card. Select the paint bucket tool or the fill option to color the background.
- 3). Add a photo to the design. Go to File, then Import or Insert, then Picture. Double-click on the photo you want to use to place it in the document. Click the photo and drag it to any location on the document.
- 4). Decorate the photo with an ornamental accent or frame. Click the color palette and choose a new color that coordinates with the background color or the focal point in the photograph. Select the shape tool and choose a holiday decoration from the available shapes.
- 5). Select the text tool and click inside the document where you would like to place the greeting. Type your greeting and personal message.
- 6). Open a new document, in the same size, in your design software. Select a font, style and color, then type a message for the inside of the card. The position of the text on the document will determine where the message is printed on the inside of the card. You could also write your message on the inside of the card, after printing the card design.
- 7). Insert photo paper in your printer. Select the printer icon at the top of the first document. Choose the number of cards you want to print and click "OK" to print your holiday photo cards. Flip the printed paper over and place it back in the printer in the same direction as before. Select the printer icon at the top of the new document, choose the number of copies you need to print and click "OK."
- 8). Use tangible embellishments such as chipboard frames, paper flowers, brads and rhinestones to decorate the printed cards.
