    • 1). Measure the bottom portion of a bottle of wine to determine how large the holders need to be in the wine rack. The holders should be slightly broader than the bottle to allow easy access to the bottles.

    • 2). Use the hole saw to cut semi-circular portions from one side of each of the four 8-inch wide pieces of lumber. These will create a two-tiered wine rack.

Ensure that the semi-circular holders are all directly in line with one another so that the bottles will sit evenly in the holders.

    • 3). Drill pilot holes in the 9-inch wide panels. The 9-inch portion will be vertical, and the 12-inch portion will act as the sides of the wine rack. Drill two pilot holes for each part of the wine rack; each side should have eight pilot holes.

    • 4). Place one of the rack portions against the side and line it up with the pilot holes before attaching it with screws. Begin with a bottom portion. Attach the second bottom rack to the side of the holder and ensure that the semi-circular holes are even.

    • 5). Repeat step 4 with the top portions of the rack. Ensure that all sections cut out from the holders are aligned.

    • 6). Attach the other side of the wine rack to the four rack sections to finish off the two tiers. Align the racks with the pilot holes before attaching the side with screws. Make sure all screws are flush with the wood.

    • 7). Paint or stain the wine rack to match interior decor. Allow the wine rack to dry for at least 24 hours before placing wine bottles on it.

    • 8). Fill the wine rack with bottles of wine and display it on a tabletop or counter.
