    • 1). Examine each countertop and rate it on a scale of one to five, with five being the highest, for appearance. This is completely subjective and up to your own personal opinion.

    • 2). Examine each countertop's price per linear foot and rate the price on its affordability on a scale of one to five, five being the highest. For example, stones like quartz and granite are going to be more expensive, and materials like tile or laminate are going to be cheaper.

    • 3). Note down the material that each countertop consists of, and rate the material's durability on a scale of one to five. For example, concrete is incredibly durable. Wood counters will give your bathroom a rustic look, but aren't going to stand up well to all the moisture in the bathroom.

    • 4). Rate on a scale of one to five how stain resistant each material is. For example, tile and laminate are extremely stain resistant with granite having less resistance.

    • 5). Rate on a scale of one to five how scratch resistant the material is. For example, a concrete counter will be extremely scratch resistant, but a tile or granite counter will still be prone to scratches.

    • 6). Rate on a scale of one to five how easy to maintain the counter material is. For example, laiminate requires a simple wipe down from time to time, whereas granite has to be sealed and sanded periodically.
