How to Get Coconuts From a Tree

    • 1). Tie a rope to one side of a ladder at approximately the midpoint of the ladder. The ladder should be tall enough to reach the coconuts at the top of the tree. Let the other end of the rope hang free.

    • 2). Place the ladder against the tree at a slight angle. This will help keep the ladder against the tree. Have a friend secure the ladder by holding it. Instruct your friend to keep watching for falling coconuts. Disturbing the tree could cause coconuts to break loose, and anyone on the ladder or the ground below could be struck by a falling coconut.

    • 3). Climb halfway up the ladder and then loop the rope around the tree. Tie it to the other side of the ladder. This will further stabilize the ladder.

    • 4). Climb up the ladder the rest of the way. Grab the ripe coconuts by their tops and pull them off the tree. You will not need any specialized tool to pull the coconuts free if they are ripe.

    • 5). Toss the coconuts down to your friend. If the height is too great, go down several rungs until you feel comfortable tossing the coconut down.
