How to Remove a Towel Holder in Tile
- 1). Look on the underside or sides of the holders at each end of the towel rack. These are the portions of the holder that are connected to the tile. You should see a small metal screw. Remove this with the screwdriver. Do this for both sides.
- 2). Simultaneously lift up both sides of the towel holder with the bar between them. You should feel it sliding off the brackets in the wall.
- 3). Remove the brackets mounted to the tile by loosening the screws. These mount points are usually attached with two or more screws each.
- 4). Pull any anchors out of the holes in the tile with a pair of needle-nose pliers.
- 1). Put on a long-sleeve shirt, safety goggles and gloves. Spread newspaper on the floor underneath the tile holder.
- 2). Insert the sharp end of a chisel at the top of one of the mounting points of the towel holder. Give this a sharp blow with the hammer. Continue driving the chisel into the mount point until it comes loose from the surrounding tile. Remove the towel bar.
- 3). Insert the chisel behind the second mount point. Repeat the process of hitting it with the hammer until the point comes out of the tile.
