A pile is usually made of wool or fiber that consists the twisted tufts of the carpets that are treated to remain they way it should be.
An indoor outdoor carpet is a floor cover that is made of textile that serves an upper layer or "pile" which is attached to another layer or backing that is also considered as the base that supports the "pile".
There are carpets which are used inside buildings, houses, and other business establishments.
However, there are also those designed for areas outside these structures such as open spaces for special occasions.
Basically, a carpet is commonly made through four basic ways.
These are woven, needlefelt, knotted, and tufted.
However, there are also other ways that are rarely done.
Woven kind is literally produced by weaving with the same manner done with cloth and designs are woven with an artistic procedure.
The needlefelt is more sophisticated, a machine is used in the production.
This involves electrostatic attraction of each fiber in forming this carpet.
When it comes to electrostatic attraction, a distinct machine is required for the production.
This kind is designed for the numerous people walking on the carpet.
Hotels, restaurants and other venues of events that many individuals are frequent prefer this kind of carpet for its durability.
The knotted carpet that is also known as supplementary weft cut-loop pile, a very popular example of a knot in the old days called the shag is the best example that has been used in the 1970's.
The shag is forming a "pile "or "nap" of the carpet.
Structural wefts and supplementary wefts are alternately threaded to form exactly 90 degrees with respect to the surface of the weave.
Oriental rugs such as the Kashmir are knotted by hand.
A tufted carpet has "pile" injected to the backing material.
Then, the backing is attached to another backing for a stronger base.
There are many other ways to produce carpets but these processes are not so reliable or the results have more disadvantages than the positive outcome of the finished product.
Some of these procedures are so sophisticated that the carpet's production cost is so high for competition in the market.
There are requirements to be complied in installing carpets, they may be designed for indoor or outdoor use.
However, these important procedures vary according to the surface of the floor or pavement to be covered by the product.
They may be concrete, wooden, bricks, asphalt, swimming pool decks, and plywood.
Among these different procedures to be followed, there are some that are generally common to all.
They must be clean, dry, and smooth or else the carpets' performance won't be satisfying.
These carpets may be installed with an adhesive or just simply placed on top of the desired surface.
