Baby Boy's Bedroom Ideas
- Planes, trains, and automobiles are popular inspirations for a boy's bedroom. Paint the walls a shade of blue to look like the sky, and stencil an airplane border. You could also use wall stickers to simplify the project. Find and frame prints of trains. Seek out train and auto memorabilia that you can use for wall and room decorations through the teen years. A nursery doesn't necessarily have to be babyish. Crib bumpers with transportation images are easy to find and a great addition to the theme.
- The colors of the woods are naturally soothing. Shades of green, brown, and blue fit well in a baby boy's room. Look for bedding in a woodland animal print. Solid colors or plaid prints would also be appropriate. Choose rustic pine furniture for dressers. Children enjoy stuffed animals so be sure to tuck some squirrels, moose, and bears around the room. Look for creels (wicker baskets used to hold fish) at sporting goods stores. Use them to hold diapers, lotions, and toys. Hang a couple of fishing poles on the wall to complete the look.
- If you think that your baby is out of this world, his room should be, too. An outer space theme for a boy's bedroom is fun to design. Paint the walls a dark shade of blue and set it off with white trim. Glow-in-the-dark stars can double as a night-light. Arrange the stars on the ceiling and they will provide a comforting glow as baby falls to sleep. A planetary mobile will entertain your little one in his younger days, and will help him learn about the solar system as he grows.
- A little boy with an independent spirit will love a western-themed bedroom. Shades of blue, red, brown, and yellow work great for this theme. Walls can be painted a sandy brown with dark brown trim. Sew together two large, red handkerchiefs, and stuff them to make quick throw pillows. Look for denim or cowboy-print fabric when choosing the bedding. Arrange several horseshoes on the wall (be sure to place them with the open side up for good luck) and hang a couple of cowboy hats. A wooden rocking horse will fit right in, and your little buckaroo will enjoy riding it, as well.
