Many Americans do not realize what a fantastic country The Czech Republic is to visit. It is a country whose people have pride and determination. There are many cities in the Czech Republic that millions of people visit every year.

The city of Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in not only the Czech Republic but in all of Europe. The city of Prague is host to some of the most historic buildings in the world. These architectural structures date back to the Roman Empire. The detail and sheer beauty of these structures have millions of people flocking every year to the city of Prague. There are three towns that make up Prague; Old Town, Lesser Town, and New Town.

The Charles Bridge which crosses the Vltava River is one of the structures that continually attracts visitors. Construction on the bridge began in 1357 under the rule of King Charles IV and was finished in the early 15th century. This 516 meter long bridge was the only means of crossing the river between Prague Castle, Old Town and Lesser Town. A phenomenal view of the Prague castle and St. Vitus Cathedral are clearly marked on skyline. The history of the Prague castle stretches back to the nineth century with additions being added through subsequent centuries, making it one of the largest and most elaborate castles in the world. During the life of this castle it has held many titles from a church to a convent and then in the middle-ages it became the residence of the monarchy.

The City Hall Tower in the Old Town district of Prague is a clock tower that dates back to the 14th century. Its fascinating to see the attention to detail in its design and construction. On the hour mark, a door opens above the clock and the twelve Apostles appear. On the right side of the dial the skeleton of death rings the bell. The clock tower has seen some major repairs over the centuries and the attention to detail is one thing that has remained constant and is a testament to the presevation efforts of the local people.

The town of Kutna Hora hosts the most fabulous museum that is dedicated entirely to Alchemy and the study of mysteries of mythical creations. Another attraction that Kutna Hora hosts is the Gothic Stone Fountain. This incredible fountain was built in 1496 and is still a functioning fountain today. Many people find certain peacefulness while relaxing at the fountain.

A rich variety of dishes are available when dining out in the Czech Republic. You will find everything from Thai, Japanese, Chinese, French and of course excellent local dishes.

The Czech Republic is filled with a historical beauty that few countries could match. Millions of people visit the capital Prague every year to see the best that this country has to offer. There is though, much more to the Czech Republic to discover for yourself.
