Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own candles at home? Well if you have then you have come to the right place as this article is going to teach you how to make a candle in simple and easy to understand steps.
Are you ready to make your own candles? Step # 1.
The first step is to simply gather the supplies you need for the project and to make a great work area.
The work area needs to be flat and level and you should cover it with newspapers.
The supplies that you need for this project are going to be the following: paraffin wax, wicks, wick tabs, a double boiler, wooden spoon, a carving knife, and candle molds.
Step # 2.
The second step when you learn how to make your own candles is to prepare the wax as it is going to take the longest.
All that you need to do is to cut some chunks of the wax in to the top pot of the double boiler.
Fill the bottom pot with water, place the double boiler on the stove top and bring the water to a boil.
The wax is going to melt at 150 degrees so continue to stir it on a regular basis.
Step # 3.
Now prepare all of the molds by taking the wicks and stringing them through the wick tabs if this is not already done for you.
Place the wick tabs in the bottom center of the molds, make sure that they are in the center as if they are not it can make the candle look weird and burn weird as the wick is not centered.
Step # 4.
You are almost done learning how to make your own candles.
If the wax is melted now is the time to add any colors or scents if you want to.
Take your time and pour the melted wax in to the candle molds.
When this is done simply put the mold to the side for around 24 hours so that it can cool and dry.
When it is cool and dry simply remove the candles from the molds and trim the wicks to around a quarter of an inch, you are all done learning how to make your own candles! Give the candles away as a gift to a friend or you can sell your candles at a fair, of course you can simply enjoy the candles in your own home, the choice is yours!
