  Pictures help us to display our interests and honor members of our family. They can make a bare wall come alive with faces and places. If you really like to hang pictures, you may have noticed that most frames are very similar, which can make a photo-filled wall seem boring. Creative frame display ideas include displaying plain picture frames in a creative way, using new objects as picture frames and customizing old frames with objects.
  
  

Family Tree

• If you have a large family and lots of framed photos on one wall, the number of frames might seem overwhelming. You can add some extra character to the layout of your wall and break up the monotony of all those similar picture frames. First, you might consider using different colors and sizes of picture frames. You can even paint your old picture frames to make them stand out. If you want to get really creative, you can arrange the photos on your wall to fit with your family tree. Include siblings side-by-side underneath their parents or group different nuclear families. Use some colorful ribbon to link the members of each nuclear family. Simply tape a piece of ribbon to the back of the frame to form connections between family members. This will help you to illustrate the way you are related to each person and also create a funky ribbon web.
  
  

Paned Windows

• Windows with multiple panes are a creative alternative to traditional black and brown picture frames. The worn appearance of weathered windows can add a rustic look that is perfect for older homes or homes with a country decor. Make sure you wash each pane of the glass carefully before using the window. Take a large poster board or piece of cardboard to fit the size of the frame. Cut pictures to fit within each pane of glass, then carefully line them up and attach to the board with a small amount of glue or adhesive tack. Using the board as a background will prevent you from having to stick the front of the photos to the glass, which could damage the pictures. Use staples to attach the board to the window at each corner, then mount on your wall.
  
  

Decorate a Plain Frame

• You can decorate a plain picture frame to create a customized frame display. All you need is a plain frame that you can purchase at most retail stores, some decorative accessories and a hot glue gun. Your decorated frame can coordinate with the photograph that you want to frame or simply display your interests. Young girls might choose to decorate their frame with pink feathers and glitter. Boys might choose to glue sticks and small pebbles to the frame for an outdoors effect. Puzzle lovers can attach puzzle pieces, while coin collectors might choose to border the frame with shiny pennies or other coins. If you're framing a photograph from a recent fishing trip, you could glue tiny fishing lures or fishing line to the frame to coordinate with the photograph.
