How to Repair Smith Sunglasses
- 1). Apply the lens-cleaning solution included in your lens scratch-removal kit to the sunglass lens. Wipe the glasses clean with a soft cloth.
- 2). Apply the scratch remover to the lens. Pour a few drops of the scratch remover on a cotton swab and apply the swap to the surface of the lens, using gentle, even strokes.
- 3). Allow the sunglasses to dry for 30 to 45 minutes.
- 4). Examine the sunglasses for scratches. If scratches persist, repeat the scratch-removing process as necessary.
- 1). Tighten the screws of your sunglasses using the screwdriver provided in the eyeglass repair kit.
- 2). Replace lost screws. Take a screw from the eyeglass repair kit and slide the screw into the appropriate hole. Close the screw using one of the included bolts. If necessary, have a friend hold the sunglasses in place while you insert the screw.
- 3). Glue any cracked or broken parts of the frame together. Apply a drop of fast-bonding glue to one side of the broken frame. Push the other side of the broken frame into place and hold for 30 to 60 seconds. Allow the frame to dry for 30 to 60 minutes before attempting to wear it.
- 1). Contact Smith to determine if your damage is covered by the warranty. Check the resources section for the Smith website and warranty information. If your sunglasses are more than a year old, have damage to prescription lenses, or are obviously damaged because of a user error, you can still send your sunglasses to Smith for replacement, but you will have to pay a fee.
- 2). Cover your sunglasses with a cushion wrap, such as bubble wrap, and place them in a stamped and addressed envelope. Check the Smith website to find the current address for repairs.
- 3). Ship your sunglasses to Smith using a traceable method, such as FedEx or UPS.
