How to Make Mitered Corners
- 1). Sew the binding of the fabric to right side of the quilt. Sew along the side of the quilt rather than at the quilt's corners.
- 2). Stop sewing at the corner of the quilt when the thread is about half an inch away from the edge.
- 3). Secure the seam by backstitching.
- 4). Turn the binding of the fabric upward, creating a 45-degree angle.
- 5). Turn the binding of the fabric downward, matching the fabric's fold to the edge that was sewn. The unsewn edges will be matched to the remainder of the binding.
- 6). Continue stitching with the thread about 1/2 inch from each of the quilt's edges.
- 7). Sew around the quilt, keeping the thread about 1/2 inch from the edges.
- 8). Sew the binding over the opposite side. The fold will cover the stitching, creating miters on both sides of the quilt.
