How to Make Onion Sets
- 1). Plant the seeds ¼ inch apart, in rows that are 1 foot apart, in a sunny location.
- 2). Cover the seeds with ½ inch of soil. Add fertilizer.
- 3). Water regularly.
- 4). Bend the tops of the plants over just before the first frost. Wait a week.
- 5). Dig the bulbs out of the ground.
- 6). Place the bulbs in a warm, well-ventilated place for a few weeks, until the necks are thoroughly dried.
- 7). Store the bulbs in a mesh bag in a cool, dark, dry place.
- 8). Plant the sets in your garden in the spring.
