Speechless - A Poetry Book
SPEECHLESS Events too tragic to contemplate Over whelming sorrowful and sad Wheel beyond our control and endurance Has fate enacted upon the stage That is this our darken world.
Tears washeth not grief Nor consoles no wounded hearts Instead it sweep away From every face all happiness hope and joy Leaving the moaners but speechless The story of Sister Phoebe Owino Disciple and ambassador of good will She who showed good sign To the young and old alike Is a sad one to relate Hard working and humble Wonderful was her company For she sang songs of hope And was a beckoning light to the young That's why they moan And are speechless She is gone and gone for good Dead she is and dead indeed Removed out of sight but not of mind For in the lips and mind of poets she lives But those who loved her are tongue-tired Every night will dawn Every seed will live into plant And every tempest of situation will call We shall meet again When time and occasion calls for it In peace rest servant every awaited MISERIES OF OUTING To all and sundry announced Come one come all In send your payment For the trip to the city is on Towards the turn of the year The year ninety Month of August In come our contributions Receipts in return received How we longed for the trip December of joy and plays Blessed month of songs and tunes Many a youths to the city are off Except for me and my broken heart My sin so trivial and petty That my payment Arrived lately A chance I was denied by officials To see Betty As with her planned in a party That was December ninety Betty here is what they said That I am not well behaved I did not stick to rules they lay All my expectations lay paid Forgive me lady I so pray Betty you thought I lied so am shy But the same I say what I said That together with you we shall stay And blessed be the saintly day when our love will be rewarded I am tired Betty so bye and bye My throat is sore and simple dry In the dark nights dogs bark and bay My troubled mind runs a stray But be it as it may The same I say what I said That our love will shine Like the sun in the sky CHANGE OF TOWN A baby changes into an adult Clouds into water Seed into plant Wood into ashes But the change of town? Why do I sing? Because of Why do I poetize? Because of the Why do I lament? Because of the change of Why do I narrate? Because of the change to town What change of town? She changed town To a journey I set out Looking for my love Who had changed town And painfully broken my heart May the painting of your self Engraved in my memory Be driving forces Memorial of faith and trust Moments shared Life force of cause entangled Contradiction of life The change of town ALLEGATION Neither my choice nor will But by their will they willed To in robe of honor dressed me I repeat not my liking So spare me the allegation In broad day light As is require Accordingly procedural Proposed and seconded Where for your accusations? Many are your allegations Among them Saboteurs I am Also your authority by me undermined If so my heart of stain cleans almightily But brothers I plead mercy To a journey I set out To mould and to build With toil and labour With sweet I yearn to create Where for your allegation Mad on me you sling Crook and stooge Name it all For all am not bitter But brother I plead mercy To allege you are free Slander a game so loved But by their will they willed To in robe of honor Dressed me so spare the allegations DAY OF WOE At last arrived the day That was eagerly awaited When she could return Who had changed town And painfully broken my heart "Composed and highly spirited" Up the road I look And a thousand thanks To God I give For the grand return to be Oh woeful day When my world resembled hall And all seemed to melt away For the grand return Was not to be Since she fell sick When far away Far away on a lonely And a loveless bed Lies the one for whom I have waited To come and pick back The pieces of my broken heart Hearken and be healed Suzzy from bed I bid you stand And though Mombasa Is too far away Come beloved and heal my wounds Which so profusely bleed Sorry Suzzy sorry Not your wish I know But why is life so cruel That fast you changed town And now you have changed my dreams.
