    • 1). Remove the air cleaner and the gasket it sits on.

    • 2). Disconnect the fuel and vacuum lines and plug them. Move the lines off to the side where they will not be able to get in the way.

    • 3). Disconnect the choke coil rod, electrical connector, or heated air line tube, as well as the throttle linkage. If the car has an automatic transmission, disconnect the throttle valve linkage, too. Remove the electrical connector and vacuum hose if the car is CEC equipped, as well as the EGR line.Take off the idle stop solenoid, if there is one.

    • 4). Remove the bolts and nuts that attach the carburetor. Remove the old carburetor and gasket. If the gasket tears or is stuck, use the scraper or putty knife to remove all traces of the gasket.

    • 5). Place a new gasket and the new carburetor on the manifold. Replace bolts and retaining nuts on carburetor to hold it in place.

    • 6). Reattach all disconnected lines, hoses and electrical connections.

    • 7). Fill the float bowl with gasoline to make starting the car easier the first time. Replace the air cleaner and gasket.
