Reduce Nicotine Withdrawal Symptoms

Have you thought about how and when to quit smoking? It was so easy to start smoking, why is it so hard to quit? Ever find yourself asking that question? Well the answer is because of nicotine.

Nicotine is basically a naturally occurring chemical found in the tobacco plant. It has many dependence forming characteristics which leads to why so many people can't quit smoking.

In order for you to rid your body of nicotine, your body is going to have to go through some changes. Nicotine Withdrawal begins anywhere from 1 to 48 hours after your last cigarette, depending on how much you smoke, how often you smoke, and how your body processes nicotine. Immediately you'll feel some fatigue. Your body has depended on nicotine for so long, that it slows down when it doesn't have it. Some other symptoms are: Cravings to smoke another cigarette, cranky, headache, dry mouth, and a sore tongue.

Many long time smokers come down with what is commonly called "Quitter's flu." It's called that because you'll see symptoms of a mild cold or flu, like a sore throat, cough, and runny nose. It is not quite understood why Quitter's flu happens but there are a few theories. One theory is that when smoking, the smoke and nicotine numbs your sinuses, therefore not producing any anything. Another is that the body is being "over-protective" when smoking, so it produces additional mucus to protect the body. And when you stop smoking, that production doesn't stop immediately, but over time it will. I'll offer you some steps and different ways that you can use to reduce or eliminate some of these symptoms.

There are many stop smoking techniques out there on the market today. There's the patch, the gum, pills, and the list goes on and on. The concept of many of these are the same, give a lower and lower dose of nicotine so the body can relate to that level, and reduce it slowly. The down fall of those is that it feeds the body a constant flow of nicotine. A smoker doesn't need a constant flow of nicotine; they only need it when they have cravings for it.

A slow weaning of your body off of nicotine is a better alternative, with a lower nicotine level cigarette or an electronic cigarette.

The only downfall of a cigarette with a lower nicotine level is you're still getting those harmful chemicals and toxins in your body, like the tar and the carcinogens. Needless to say, with a cigarette, you still get that smoke that the public dislikes.

Electronic cigarettes can be an easy solution for a smoker that wants to quit! Electronic cigarettes, or e-cigs, still give you what you need as far as nicotine, and it's much cheaper too, only about 20% of the actual cost of ordinary cigarettes. An e-cig is simply a battery operated device that vaporizes a nicotine solution. They are very realistic and even have a cloud of water vapor when someone exhales which makes it look even more like a regular cigarette. The benefits of e-cigs are endless, but when dealing with nicotine withdrawal, this is where they shine. You can choose the amount of nicotine that you want to vaporize. An ordinary cigarette has about 1 mg if nicotine, with e-cigs, you can choose to lower that level at your own pace. And when you don't need or have those cravings anymore, you can go to a no nicotine level which will still give you that hand to mouth smoking action which becomes a habit and another reason why smoking is difficult to overcome.

Nicotine Withdrawal isn't an easy thing to overcome, but an e-cig will help. A few other things that you can change to make it easier are: exercise regularly, eat healthier, get more rest, and most importantly relax. Hopefully these tips, and an electronic cigarette, help you overcome your nicotine addiction.
