Hypnosis Is Just A Word Hypnosis, hypnotism, hypnotherapy are all words that conjure up similar images to many people around the world.
All of these words can be used interchangeably.
Hypnotism is the act of guiding someone into a trance state for the purpose of influencing them in some way.
Hypnosis is generally the term that is used to refer to the state that a hypnotized person achieves when they are more readily available to accept outside influence.
Many articles have been written about this phenomena and how we can use it as a tool for quick and effective change.
While this is certainly true there is more to it than is usually revealed to most readers.
Hypnosis will help a person to accept influence that can be used to help change them, help them to perform outside of their comfort zone, and allow them to practice doing something that they haven't done yet until it seems familiar to them.
It is then more easily within reach because having practiced it mentally, they have become familiar with it and it no longer is outside of their comfort zone.
What Is Hypnosis? So what is hypnosis? It is a state of mental flexibility.
Whatever our minds can accept as real, is more likely to become real when combined with education on how to accomplish the reality that we are seeking.
I know all this seems to be a little bit abstract, so I'll give you an example of what I am speaking about using quit smoking.
Quit Smoking Hypnosis Hypnosis is frequently associated with use for quit smoking.
It is one of the more dramatic ways of using hypnosis.
After all when someone goes to see an experienced hypnotist and they walk into the office being a smoker, it's simply amazing that they are able to leave within a short amount of time being a non smoker.
What really happens? What takes place in the office? After being guided into an hypnotic trance the smoker is then brought to a place where they become accepting of whatever the hypnotist says, as long as it's also within the framework of the belief of the smoker.
The smoker is then allowed to experience their life as a non smoker and start to accept all the benefits that a non smoker has.
They start to feel that satisfying feeling of being a success.
Becoming free of the chains of nicotine becomes very real.
Since they really want to be a non smoker, they accept the suggestions that they are a non smoker and become non smokers right then and there.
It's a shift in their perceptions of who they are and what they will allow themselves to do.
What Really Happens With An Experienced Hypnotist But what really happens that makes the experienced hypnotist so successful is that the whole process begins with the very first contact that is made with the smoker.
Unknown to the smoker and others that are seeking help with quit smoking hypnosis is that a well trained hypnotist will not accept just anyone who calls into his office.
Only the newbies and students who don't know any better, and the part time hobby hypnotists will work with smokers who are clearly not ready to quit.
After a very brief interview any experienced hypnotist will be able to determine very accurately as to whether they will be able to help the smoker with their problem.
That is where the art of hypnosis comes into play.
How To Tell If Your Hypnotist Is Good So to be successful at using hypnosis to make change you will want to make sure that you work with an experienced hypnotist that will take the time to interview you at length even before you come in for your actual session.
It is then that he can determine whether you will be able to accept the suggestions for the change that you seek.
He can tell whether you are ready to change.
And he can tell whether you will be a good fit for his approach to hypnosis.
