How to Get Dust Out of a BlackBerry Screen
- 1). Turn the BlackBerry off. Flip the device over, remove the battery cover and remove the battery. Slide out any SIM or SD cards that are in the device.
- 2). Remove any plastic covers from the bottom and top of the BlackBerry. Not every BlackBerry device will have both of these covers -- some, such as the older Curves and Pearls, will only have a cover over the bottom. Just gently push the cover away from the device with your pry tool and it will pop free.
- 3). Remove the screws from the device. The screws will be located in all four corners of the device and along the sides, but they will not be on the same side of every BlackBerry. The older Curves will only have two T4 screws in the top two corners of the back side, while the 8800 will have four T6 screws on the back side. The Pearl will have two of the screws on the front side, while the Bold will have six screws on the back. If you have removed both the top and bottom covers, all the screws will be visible if you inspect the BlackBerry.
- 4). Remove the side caps from those BlackBerrys, such as the Pearl and 8800, that have them. Just insert your pry tool under each cap and pop it off.
- 5). Insert your pry tool under the front housing of the BlackBerry. Work the tool around the perimeter of the front housing, releasing all the clips that hold it on the device. Once the clips are loose, pull up to remove it.
- 6). Wipe the inside of the glass or plastic and the LCD screen with your lint-free cloth. Ensure there is no more visible dust on the screen or the protective sheet before you continue.
- 7). Blow compressed air over the LCD and the inside of the glass or plastic to remove any remaining dust or debris. Quickly place the front housing back on the device and press down to snap it into place. If you do this too slowly, dust may accumulate on the LCD and the glass or plastic before you get the front housing secure.
- 8). Reassemble the BlackBerry by reversing the steps that you used to take the BlackBerry apart.
