How to Replace a Droid Incredible Digitizer
- 1). Turn the Droid Incredible over. Lift up the battery cover from the bottom to remove it from the device. Pull up on the top of the battery to remove it, and slide the microSD card to the right to remove it as well.
- 2). Unscrew the four T6 screws that surround the device. There is one screw at each corner.
- 3). Insert your pry stick between the red back cover and the black front cover of the device, along either of the two sides. Twist the pry stick to release the clasps that hold the device together, then move your stick around the outside of the device releasing all the clips. Lift up on the red back cover to remove it.
- 4). Located the four ribbon connectors on the control board. There is one in the middle of the right side, one in the middle of the left side, and two small ones right next to each other near the bottom. Peel back the yellow tape that covers these connectors, then lift up the plastic flap on the connector and slide the cables out. Once the cables are all loose, lift up on the trackpad, located in the middle of the bottom of the device, to remove it.
- 5). Remove the two small Phillips screws from the control board. One is located in the lower-left corner, and the other in the upper-right corner. Lift up on the control board to remove it from the front housing, LCD and digitizer.
- 6). Remove the two small Phillips screws at the top of the LCD. Insert your pry stick underneath the LCD and lift up to remove it.
- 7). Turn the front housing over and lay it on the table in front of you. Hold your heat gun six inches over the glass. Turn the heat gun on and move it around the perimeter of the digitizer. Move the gun continuously for one minute, then turn it off and set it aside.
- 8). Insert your pry stick into the small gap between the digitizer and the front housing. The adhesive should be loose enough from the heat so that your stick goes in without an issue. Move the stick around the device to separate all the adhesive, then lift the digitizer up to remove it. Lift it carefully, as you will need to thread the ribbon cable the runs off of the bottom of the digitizer through a slot on the front housing.
- 9). Remove the backing from your replacement digitizer to expose the adhesive. Slide the cable through the slot at the bottom of the front housing and push the digitizer into place. Press down around the perimeter of the digitizer to ensure that it is secure to the front housing.

Reverse the disassembly steps to put the Droid Incredible back together.
