How to Make a Stuffed Animal Mouse
- 1). Measure and cut a 3-inch-wide by 5-inch-long rectangle from the lightweight cardboard. Use the pencil to sketch a curve on the corners to create a teardrop shape. Cut the teardrop shape out. This is the pattern for your stuffed animal mouse body. Measure a 1 1/2-inch circle on the lightweight cardboard using the compass. Cut the circle out. This is the pattern for your stuffed animal mouse ears.
- 2). Lay the gray felt in two layers on your work surface. Lay the mouse body pattern on the gray felt and trace around it using a pen. Place the ear pattern on the gray felt and trace around it using a pen. Pin the felt together and cut the pieces out. Sew the two mouse body pieces together using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Leave a 1-inch opening at the back of the mouse for turning and stuffing. Turn the mouse right side out, and fill the mouse with stuffing.
- 3). Cut three pieces of gray yarn 12 inches long. Hold the yarn together and tie an overhand knot on one end, leaving a 1-inch tassel. Thread the jingle bell on one strand of the gray yarn, and move it all the way to the knot. Braid the three strands of gray yarn together and tie the other in an overhand knot. Place the knotted end with no bell inside the opening of the mouse, and pin the opening closed. Hand sew the opening closed, stitching through the braided yarn tail to secure.
- 4). Pinch the sides of the ears together so that the ears are cupped. Space the ears 1/2-inch apart and 1 inch from the pointed nose of the mouse. Hand sew the ears to the mouse body. Space the bead eyes 1/2-inch apart and 1/2 inch from the pointed nose of the mouse. Hand sew the eyes to the mouse. Stitch the last black bead to the pointed tip nose of the mouse. Thread the embroidery needle with a length of the black embroidery floss. Tie in an overhand knot in the floss 1 inch from the end. Insert the needle into one cheek and out the other. Tie a knot at the cheek, and cut the tail 1 inch long. Repeat twice more for three whiskers on each cheek side.
