How to Make Fabric Lined Baskets
- 1). Drape the fabric inside the basket to assess how much you will need for the lining. The material should touch all the sides, completely cover the bottom of the basket and hang in excess of 3 or 4 inches over the rim. If the basket is oddly shaped, iron the fabric, creating folds if necessary, so it will lay neatly.
- 2). Trim the fabric with pinking shears to fit the size and shape of the basket.
- 3). Using a hot glue gun, glue the fabric to the bottom of the interior of the basket. Allow to cool.
- 4). Apply the hot glue all around the exterior of the basket, about 1 inch lower than the rim. Gently fold the 3 to 4 inches of excess fabric over the rim and press against the glue to secure. Allow to cool.
- 5). Measure the circumference of the basket and cut the ribbon to size. Glue the ribbon to the fabric below the rim around the exterior of the basket. Another option is to glue color-contrasting ribbon on the rim of the basket.
