Your Action is the Key to Getting Things Done
I recently finished a book that made the idea of action clear in my mind.
The book "Getting Things Done" by David Allen.
This book has a massive following.
I have run into people who swear that they would not be able to work if it were not for the ideas and thoughts presented by this book.
I personally have not set up my 43 folders, but I understand the reason for it.
The greatest thing I took away from this book is action.
Every thing in your business needs some sort of action.
If you are not the one best suited for the task your action is to delegate it to someone else.
The idea is to clear your mind of thoughts about things that have no action yet associated to them.
How many times have you had an idea, mentally flagged it as important, only to forget what you thought was so important when you wanted to recall it.
Yet again the idea presents itself at a time that it is not needed.
For me action is needed in order to keep this idea.
I always have a pen so I can write important things down, usually in a small pocket book.
A real easy example.
My wife leaves me a message to pick up milk.
The thing to do during the message is to write down my intentions for the task assigned to me.
"Pick up milk on the way home.
" Now my mind does not need to dwell on the task and all I need to do is review my note and act upon the message I gave myself.
Ideas without action are only daydreams.
You could have the greatest idea in the world tucked inside your mind but without action the idea will never see the light of day.
The more action you notice yourself taking the more actions you will take.
Make taking action a habit and you will find yourself more successful than ever before.
