How to Mount a Wooden Leg Vice
- 1). Locate a suitable place for you to mount the vise on your workbench. A leg vise is generally mounted on the front of a workbench, usually near one of the corners. Consider what type of work you'll be needing the leg vise for and the amount of space required for you to work with the vise.
- 2). Use the vise mounting bracket as a stencil. Mark the guide-holes on the workbench using a pencil.
- 3). Loosen the wedges on the middle of the rear jaw by turning the screws. Slide the mounting bracket up or down to the required height for your workbench. Ensure that the vise's jaw leg is flush with the ground.
- 4). Drill the holes for the mount. Countersink the holes into the workbench by 1/2 inch. Place the mount on the workbench. Set washers on the holes. Slide the bolts through the washers into the holes. Screw the nuts onto the bolts into the countersunk holes. Tighten the nuts securely.
