Instructions for Carnival Funnel Cakes
- 1). Place the pan onto the stove, setting the heat to medium-high. Pour the oil into the pan until it is 1 inch from the top.
- 2). Place the eggs and milk into a small bowl and use the whisk to beat the mixture until frothy and semi-firm. Place the sugar, flour and baking powder into the mixing bowl and stir with a fork until well mixed. Pour in the egg mixture, and stir with the whisk until there are no lumps.
- 3). Wet your fingertips with clean water and flick it into the pan. If the oil pops and sizzles, it is the proper temperature. Using the funnel or spout, slowly pour about a 1/4 cup of of the mixture into the pan. While pouring the mixture, orbit the mixture's flow through and around the center of the pan, creating a random, funnel cake appearance.
- 4). Wait until the mixture stops spreading, at least 10 seconds, and carefully flip it over in the pan with the fork. Wait a similar amount of time for the second side before carefully spearing and removing the mixture with the fork. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and allow to cool before serving.
