How to Find Out What Arm Length for a Suit Jacket
- 1). Place your hand on your hip and bend your elbow at a 90-degree angle. You want your jacket sleeves to fit properly when you are moving around, and leaving your arms straight at your sides will not provide the correct length when measuring for sleeves.
- 2). Use measuring tape to find the length of your arm for sleeve size. Do not use the type of tape measure used in construction or household work---use a fabric measuring tape used by seamstresses and tailors.
- 3). Place the measuring tape at the middle of the back of your neck and extend it down your shoulder and around the outside of your arm to your wrist. Take note of the length in inches when you are finished. This is the correct length of sleeve you need to ensure your suit jacket sleeves fit correctly.
