Getting past the brick wall can certainly be a challenge but no worries there are many ways to break down that wall. You have many photos and what do you do with them. You need to decide on what theme you would like to do, will it be a heritage album, Chronological album? Will it be about a certain event or person? Once you have the basics figured out then you have to find something to inspire you for the first page.
One can find inspiration by looking at other peoples pages. Scrapbook layout ideas are everywhere, they can be found in magazines, friends albums and there are many online galleries as well. When you are looking in magazines dont just skim through the pages take a look at the finer details for things like what drew you into the focal point of the page. Was it the photo was it the embellishment or was it the color of the page, is it a unique design element, was it the journaling? There can be one little thing or many things that you liked about the layout.
If it is magazines why not cut out the layout or make a photo copy of it and start creating yourself and inspirational idea binder. Even if you like one or two elements on a page still save a copy of it. After you get a few different ideas you may be surprised of how many of them you may be able to put together on the same layout. Like a full layout someone did then you can scrap lift it. Even though the basic layout may be the same there are many other things you can do to personalize it to your own. Perhaps change the location of the focal point, the color scheme or embellishments. By doing this will give you a completely different look from what the original actually was.
There are many scrapbooking videos for tutorials and new products online. Watching some of these will even given you more inspirational ideas that they have shown you. Maybe you get inspiration for seeing a sketch alongside the final result. If this works best for you then look for websites that have sketch challenges a lot of personal groups have these as well such as yahoo groups.
What about working backwards to creating your layout? You are also struggling for the perfect title or journaling to go with your layout right. Well what if you find the ideal title, quote or poem that youd love to use. Well Take that quote or title and trying matching up photos that would go along with it. If you still decide to that you work best with a layout first then that is fine as well. When it comes to that perfect title take a long look at your photos jot down some key points or memories about the photo. Have writers block no worries there are still many resources out there online and off. You can find books at libraries for quotes, poems, look in magazines, newspapers you name it just pay close attention to what you are reading and idea is bound to jump out at you. There are many online resources as well, look at layouts others have done why or how do you think they came up with the title they did, make some notes this will give you many different ideas as well. E-books are another new big craze, there are books out there for Title ideas, quotes, poems, sketches, tips and tricks you name it there is probably an e-book for it. E-books can be free or may cost a little bit of money but many are worth the little bit of money you pay. They can save you time where you can have a lot of inspirational journaling or layouts write at your finger tips without searching thru page after page in magazines or online galleries to find the perfect journaling. People have already done the hard work researching for the best or most unique quotes, poems, or title ideas and compiled them all in one unique E-book for you that you can read on your computer and in some cases even print out.
Dont forget that if you have kids they can give you the most inspiration of all. Do they have a favorite saying they use day after day, are they always doing funny things well make sure you have your notepad and camera handy at all times so you catch these special moments to add to your next scrapbook layout.
