How to Make Digital Picture Frames
- 1
Create a new image file in Photoshop by clicking on "File," and then "New" in the menu bar at the top of the screen. When the new menu opens, name the file, choose its size, choose RGB for the color mode and set the "Background Contents" to "Transparent." - 2
Click on the "Custom Shape Tool" in the vertical menu to the left of the screen. Then go to the "Shape" drop-down menu at the top of the screen, and choose the square frame option. - 3
Draw the frame onto the image, beginning at the upper-left-hand corner and moving to the lower-right-hand corner. - 4
Click on the "Path" tab in the palette at the lower-right-hand corner of the screen and then click on the small arrow to the right. Another menu will open--click on "Make Selection" and then click "OK" in the new menu that opens. - 5
Add color to the frame. You will notice the lines around the frame are dotted and seem to be moving. Choose the paint bucket to drop color into the frame. The paint bucket is located in the vertical menu. The color that will be dropped will be the top color in the two squares in the vertical menu. If you want another color, click the square and choose another color. - 6
Click "Select" and then "Deselect" to remove the lines around the frame. - 7
Open the image you want to frame in the digital frame. You will need to resize it so that it fits inside the frame. This will depend on how you originally sized your frame. An example frame size is 800 x 600 pixels. The puppy image that was opened was originally the same size, so it was reduced to 700 x 525 pixels. - 8
Select the image to frame, and then copy and paste it into the frame image. Do this by first going to "Select" and then "All," and then "Edit" and "Copy." After you have copied the picture, minimize it and then paste it into the framed image. - 9
Go to the "Layers" tab in the lower-right-hand corner and move the frame layer to the top. - 10
Look at your image, which is now properly framed. Save the image by going to "File" and "Save." Save one copy as a PSD file, which will allow you to reopen the file and add other images within the frame.
