How to Airbrush Photos in Photoshop CS2

    • 1). Open Photoshop CS2, pull down the "File" menu and click "Open." Browse to a digital photo to airbrush and double-click the file name so it opens in the Photoshop workspace.

    • 2). Click the "Zoom" tool, which looks like a magnifying glass on the "Tools" palette. Zoom in on an area of the photo to airbrush, such as a dust speck or a spot of acne on a model's face.

    • 3). Click the "Eyedropper" tool on the "Tools" palette and click your cursor on an area of the picture right next to the flawed spot, with the same color. This takes that color into memory.

    • 4). Click the "Paintbrush" tool, pull down the "Brush" menu and select one of the airbrush brush heads, which look like spray paint, such as No. 44. Your cursor changes to the new airbrush shape. Hover your brush over the flawed spot, click and drag your mouse to deposit the airbrush paint over the flawed spot, as if it was never there.

    • 5). Double-click the top-left square of the "Color Picker," which is the two overlapping colored boxes on the "Tools" palette. Select a new paint color, such as something neon and bright. Click the "OK" button.

    • 6). Pull down the "Brush" menu again and select a solid, round brush head such as No. 9. Check the "Wet Edges" box on the toolbar. Draw lines or a graffiti airbrush design on the picture, such as something on an inner city wall. Note how the paint looks semi-transparent, as it does on a wall where you would see the cement or brick design through the paint. The "Wet Edges" box gives it this transparent airbrush look.

    • 7). Switch paint colors and add more airbrush designs as desired.

    • 8). Pull down the "File" menu and click "Save As." Give the photo a new file name; don't save it on top of the original in case you want to access the non-airbrushed version again.
