Essential Tools for the Wild Harvester

Have you ever noticed that when you have a task or job to do that it seems that the "essential" tool needed is not within grasp or you just don't happen to have that "tool" in your bag or box? I have noticed that this happens with many areas of life, andnot only with your "working" job.
I am a wild harvester for profit.
I harvest and forage natural products for selling to consumers and businesses.
I hunt mushrooms in the Spring, medicinal herbs, barks and roots in the Summer, and dig Ginseng in the early Fall.
Winter opens a whole new chapter towild harvesting with gathering hiking shafts, fruit tree branches, burl's and many other commodities that are easily recognized when the cover of green leafs is missing.
The essential tools that I used for my past time have changed over the years, but generally fit into a familiar pattern for the type of harvesting that I am doing at the time.
Is that the way it is with you? Having a "familiar" tool handy? My Wife thinks the the "essential" tool for any job is the one that is currently in our hand.
No matter if you need to take out a screw, and you are holding a hammer...
Well...
she'll find a way remove that screw without the essential screwdriver.
Tools to her are just a necessary evil that has to be tolerated to meet the end result.
I have narrowed down the "Essential Tools" for my profitable pastime and as others that partake of this age old profession, my tool kit is slightly different then my best friend harvester.
Even our harvest clothes are different and we each swear our boots are the best, although they arecompletely different styles.
My take on the "Essential Tools" for the job is this: Use what you KNOW and TRUST to get the job at hand done...
quickly, safely, and easily.
