30 Days of Gratitude: Day 17
Day 17 of our 30 days of gratitude, and there has been so much to be grateful for.
So far, it's been an amazing journey and I can't wait to see what is in store the next couple of weeks.
Today I am grateful for music and what it does for my soul.
Imagine if you will, I have sat down tonight to write this entry, have the title, and am ready to starts, fingers on the keyboard.
My thoughts are interrupted by one upset Bajan husband, who has come to tell me that our wonder dog has decided to pee in the house! Understand it's not just a few drops when an 80-pound dog decides it's time to go and he hasn't been outside all day.
For some reason, Turbo has decided this week that he does not want to go outside.
I thought he was sick, but I really think it has to do with him having trouble with the tiles in the foyer of the house.
He slips too much on them and it just freaks him out.
So I suppose he has decided he just won't do it.
In the entire time I've had him, this is only the second time he's made a mess so something is definitely up.
Add to that my wonderful Bajan man, who when he's upset just has a heavier accent, talks louder than normal, and can get quite hyper.
Okay, so the deed is done, the dog is hiding in the bedroom, and there's only so much more to do.
Yet it seems my wonderful man is looking to me for a solution, and right now.
So, one hour later, I have cleaned up the mess, taken the dog out (he will go if you put his leash on him), and spread throw rugs all over the foyer so he doesn't have to walk on tiles.
And NOW I can sit down and write this post.
But wait! This is about music, right? Ahh, yes, it sure is.
Music is now providing a much needed calm in my office.
One of the things that calms me the most lately is a very old album of Elvis gospel music.
I do love how he did gospel songs.
Music can take the "hectic" out of our day and bring a calm like nothing else can do.
In the mornings when I'm needing a pick me up to get the day started, a fast, peppy song does the trick.
It was music that helped me through the painful days of my separation and divorce some years ago.
I have a CD in my car that has the music on it from our wedding.
Sometimes when I'm driving, those songs bring back the wonderful day I married the man I love.
I've found if I have a meeting to attend that could be stressful or confrontational, one of my favorite things to do is pop that Elvis CD in on the way to the meeting.
One of my favorite songs on there is titled "Who am I?" The words are humbling and remind me that there's something much greater than me in the world.
It sets my mind for an entirely different outlook on the meeting.
Soon we will hear Christmas songs everywhere.
I love Christmas music.
It brings such joy.
It's pretty tough to listen to Christmas music without getting in the spirit of the holidays.
Yes, today I am thankful for music and all it brings to my soul.
How about you? What's on your list today?
