How to Make Horseshoe Nails

    • 1). Clip your nails to the desired length using a pair of nail clippers.

    • 2). Buff the beds of your nails gently to smooth out the nail surface. Make sure you do not chip or split your nails.

    • 3). Pour two tablespoons of olive oil into a shallow bowl and dip each of your nails into it. Allow them to soak for five minutes and then wash your hands with soap and water. It is important that you remove all of the olive oil when you wash your hands, since it can cause polish to thin and wear off if it is left on the nail.

    • 4). Paint each nail using a solid color. Apply two coats if necessary.

    • 5). Dip the toothpick into a nail polish of a contrasting color and use the tip to draw a horseshoe shape onto your nail. If you are unsure about the shape, use a sheet of paper to practice drawing first.

    • 6). Glaze each nail with a clear top coat after both the base polish and the polish used for the horseshoe have dried. If one or both coats of polish are not dry, the colors will smear and the horseshoe will be indistinct.
