Solutions to Oil Rig Cleaning

The oil and gas industry requires massive machinery, oil rigs, and platforms that operate continuously.
In addition, extracted oil and gas must be transported and stored prior to processing.
Cleaning equipment, oil rigs, and containers is challenging but necessary.
The Challenges of Oil Rig Cleaning By its nature, crude oil is difficult to clean.
After all, oil and water do not mix.
Not only is it hard to clean oil and grease, you can't just rinse oil and traditional caustic cleansers off of an oil rig and into the soil or ocean due to environmental concerns.
In addition, while cleanliness is a virtue, downtime must be kept to a minimum.
These are but a few of the challenges involved in cleaning these machinery.
The Importance of Oil Rig Cleaning While oilfield and offshore oil rigs may not be encountered by the general public, keeping them clean is a must for companies that want to maximize the life of expensive these equipment.
Oil buildup and deposits make the machinery unsightly and have the potential to corrode the equipment, prevent proper operations, and interfere with routine maintenance and repairs.
In addition to these concerns, excessive oil poses a safety hazard.
Solutions to Oil Rig Cleaning Fortunately, eco-friendly solutions to cleaning these machinery have been introduced.
For example, modern oil rig cleansers are available that have been made from non-toxic, plant-based materials.
These ingredients produce a colloidal suspension that is highly concentrated.
When mixed with water, the concentrate creates a solution containing nanoparticles capable of penetration grease and oil at the molecular level.
Individual molecules of oils are then held in a colloidal suspension where bacteria found within the oil can then attack and consume the oil molecules thanks to their small size and increased surface area.
These non-toxic cleansers facilitate and accelerate natural biodegradation processes.
The combination of natural, non-toxic ingredients, more efficient resident bacteria, and the colloidal properties of the solution, makes cleaning faster, more effective, and environmentally friendly.
The wash waste is biodegradable which allows cleaning to be performed at sea, in oil fields, or in wash racks.
In addition, some natural oilfield rig cleaners, such as G-Clean Oilfield Rig & Equipment cleaner by E&B Green Solutions, can be used on painted surfaces and polished aluminum without causing damage.
Heavy duty degreasers are another solution to cleaning these machinery.
Again, non-toxic, plant-based degreasers that form nanoparticles are an eco-friendly choice that effectively tackle hydrocarbon deposits on oil and gas equipment, rigs, tanks, and vehicles.
Storage tanks require periodic interior and exterior cleaning for a variety of reasons including for: general maintenance, repairs, inspections, and even dismantling.
In addition to oilfield storage tanks, tanks on tanker trucks must also be cleaned periodically.
In both cases, eco-friendly cleaners are available.
Look for green storage tank cleaners that are biodegradable.
While oil and grease are notoriously difficult to clean, eco-friendly solutions have been developed that harness and accelerate natural biodegradation processes.
As a result, it becomes possible to quickly and efficiently wash equipment and storage tanks without resorting to harmful caustic cleaners.
