How to Make Blown Glass Necklaces

    • 1). Acquire a glass pendant that will serve as the centerpiece of your necklace. Ensure that the pendant contains a small loop at the top, which will allow it to hang on the necklace. You may wish to also include small glass beads on your necklace that will frame the larger pendant. Choose your accompanying beads wisely, taking care that the colors do not clash.

    • 2). Choose a thread that will complement your pendant. The thread that you use will determine the style of the necklace; for example, a hemp thread will make for a necklace suitable for casual wear, while a gold or silver thread will work to create a more elegant piece of jewelry. Ensure that the thread is cut to the correct size so that the necklace does not hang too low or too high.

    • 3). Slowly insert your thread through the loop of the pendant. If you are using other beads, thread them so that they frame the pendant. A general rule of thumb is to use odd numbers of beads; threading three beads, one pendant and three more beads makes for a well-framed, balanced necklace.

    • 4). Fasten the necklace around your neck. There are a variety of different ways to go about this; for instance, if you are using hemp and do not intend to take the necklace off, it can be fastened with a simple knot around the back of the neck. Otherwise, clasps may be fastened to each end of the thread, which will allow for easy removal of the necklace for when you do not wish to wear it. Use a fastening method that best suits the intended use of your new blown glass necklace.
