Wind offers a lot of benefits known to man - making kites fly and surfing possible to name a few.
However, beyond that, wind energy powers a lot of homes worldwide.
What is Wind Power exactly? Wind movements are affected by different factors like the sun, the earth's surface irregularities, the earth's rotation and atmospheric heat.
All of these play an important role in wind production.
Wind Power defined is the usage of electricity or mechanical power through wind generation.
This wind comes from Wind Turbines that transforms kinetic energy to mechanical power.
Through the years Wind Power has been responsible for providing energy to windmills, water pumps and others.
Meanwhile, windmills are a term referring to a Wind Power generator.
For a windmill to operate, it needs wind to move its blades.
Two to three blades attached to a shaft is what composes a windmill.
These shafts are connected to a power generator that produces electricity.
It could be turned on and off by using a controller.
In instances wherein strong winds, there is a brake available to prevent any damage.
Wind Turbines come in two different kinds - a horizontal axis turbine and a vertical axis Turbine.
The horizontal one is composed of two blades rotating down and three blades rotating upwind.
The larger the Wind Turbine, the more energy it will produce.
However, small Turbines are what's being used in remote areas adjacent to solar energy.
This era's homeowners are now turning to depend on wind energy which will save them as much as 90% depending on how much energy is produced as well as the size of the Wind Turbine.
Countries like Spain, Brazil, Denmark and even South Africa has already been introduced as to what is Wind Power.
These nations power towns through wind farms.
The amount of energy generated by the large turbines of wind farms are gathered together and then received by the local grid.
Certainly Wind Power is quickly turning out to be the way of the future, so why not save money and save the environment today?
