The Monkey Business Tree

Another fun-filled tree that shows off a collector's passion. This time it's for monkey ornaments!

The umbrella or upside-down tree is always a show-stopper, but this one is done really well. The lights on this Christmas tree makes it hard to see the details -- check the next page for the primate close-ups.

The umbrella tree is approximately 7.5' tall which gives those little plush guys plenty of room to climb up the tree trunk.

A large primate sits on top of the flat tree surface and of course bananas were hung all over the tree too!

This tree is at the home of David Blair and Daniel Darwish (the taxi man) and was nestled into a cozy bedroom corner. The upside-down style doesn't take up too much floor space, making it a perfect tree to put in the corner of a room.

Trees always look a better when they are mixed with different materials, carried out to perfection in this tree. It looks like the monkey ornaments are made of glass, resin, fabric and lots of plush, with loads of glass bananas from various companies, including Inge, Old World Christmas and Radko are scattered all over the tree. If you were doing this type of a tree, artificial fruit would also work well.

This same idea tree could work well with different types of animal collections, maybe birds? But I'm not sure anything would be as cute as the monkeys as they hang all around the tree. This is so darn cute, it almost makes me want to do this with my sock monkeys, but that would mean having to add quite a few additional ones to make a respectable looking tree. I'll think about it a bit more!
