    Setting Up a Scheduled Task

    • 1). Right click on the downloaded "WakeupOnStandBy.zip" file and click "Extract all." Follow the instructions to unzip the file. Open the WakeupOnStandBy folder and double-click "wosb.exe."

    • 2). Click in the top left box to schedule the date you would like the computer to wake up on. Uncheck the box next to the date if you simply want your computer to turn itself on at a specific time, regardless of the date.

    • 3). Click in the next box and specify the time of day that you would like the computer to turn itself on.

    • 4). Check the "Repair network" box if you set your computer to sleep mode or hibernation when not in use. Checking "Repair network" connects your computer to the Internet for automated tasks.

    • 5). Check the "Turn on monitor and resume from screen saver" button if you want your monitor to go to a screen saver when it turns on. Note that this only works if your computer is not password-protected.

    • 6). Check the "Run the following file/program/webpage" box. Select the program you would like the computer to run when it wakes up by clicking the "..." box to the right. Note that this is not necessary if you leave the desired program running before putting your computer into sleep or hibernate mode.

    • 7). Fill in the box to the right of "params" if you need to specify any parameters for the program to run. This is an advanced user option and will not be necessary for most tasks.

    • 8). Select below what you would like your computer to do once it finishes the defined task. Select "Simply Wait" if you would like your computer to wait and run a second task, after a specified amount of time.

    • 9). Select "Pick." Choose a date if you would like your computer to wait until a certain date before turning off, entering sleep mode or hibernation. Enter in a specific time by filling in the three boxes to the right.

    • 10

Select "All" to choose all days of the week under the "Repeat these tasks" section and leave "Every Week" checked if you would like the computer to perform this task every week on the days specified. Otherwise, fill in the boxes as you would like.

    • 11

Click "Start" to activate the program and have it appear in the system tray.

    • 12

Put your computer in either "Hibernate" or "Sleep" mode rather than selecting "Shut Down" next time you turn it off.
