Fall Decorating With Indian Corn

    Centerpieces

    • For a classic centerpiece, choose a large basket or woven cornucopia shape and nestle a variety of fall produce in it. Choose gourds, squash, pumpkins and ears of Indian corn, which will all last months. For a more elegant centerpiece, start with a large pillar candle or a glass vase with straight edges and a pillar candle inside. Place ears of Indian corn on end all the way around the candle or vase, and tie them around it with a few pieces of raffia or a wide piece of ribbon with fall colors.

    Door Decorations

    • Welcome guests to your home by hanging a door decoration that features Indian corn. One idea is to bind together the husks of a few ears of Indian corn with wire or string, tie on some dark berries and hang the garland from a hook on your door. You can also hot-glue small ears of Indian corn to a premade straw wreath for your door.

    Outdoor Decorations

    • Use Indian corn to decorate your front yard for the fall season. Line your path with small baskets of Indian corn to represent the bountiful life you have. Set up a display outside your door with a scarecrow, a bale of hay and a large basket with Indian corn and other fall produce. Tie nylon cord around the necks of ears of Indian corn, and hang these on tree branches as fall ornaments.

    Indian Corn Kernels

    • If you only have kernels of Indian corn, rather than whole ears, you still have plenty of options for decorating ideas. Set a pillar candle in the center of a clear bowl or hurricane vase, and fill it with Indian corn to within a couple inches of the top of the candle. Scatter Indian corn kernels over a bale of hay in your backyard to encourage birds to come to your yard, perch on the hay and build nests nearby.
