How to Make My Own Costume Jewelry

    • 1). Design your jewelry.
Trace the outline of the pendant onto a piece of paper. This will enable you to lay the rhinestones on top of the tracing to see what various designs look like before you actually start gluing. It will also help you determine how well your pattern will fit together. This is important because good costume jewelry will not be obviously made of acrylic, but rather will be bright and shiny with rhinestones. Once you have a design you like, leave it in place as a pattern for your actual item.

    • 2). Assemble all your supplies.
This includes laying out (face up) the right number and sizes of rhinestones to match your paper pattern and squirting a small amount of glue onto the piece of wax paper so that you can touch the bottom of the rhinestone to the glue instead of trying to squirt glue onto the rhinestone back or onto the acrylic base.

    • 3). Glue your design onto the acrylic pendant back.
Simply match the design that you have laid out on paper on the acrylic pendant. Use the tweezers to pick up the rhinestones by squeezing them lightly but firmly on either side, and then touch the bottom of the rhinestone to the glue before setting it in place on the pendant.

    • 4). Let the jewelry dry for 24 hours.
Leave it flat and in a warm, dry place.

    • 5). Thread the chain or cord through your new costume jewelry pendant.
It will be a beautiful statement that you can enjoy wearing to make an impact on a work outfit or for a night out.
