How to Make a Hanging Mobile Collage
- 1). Combine white glue with water in a bowl to make a thin, watery paste.
- 2). Rip tissue paper into narrow strips. Use the foam applicator to brush a small area of the glass with the glue. Lay down a strip of tissue paper and smooth it against the glass. Overlap the tissue as you go until the glass is completely covered.
- 3). Cut out words, letters or images from a magazine or catalog related to a theme. For instance, make a peace-themed mobile by composing words such as hope, love, share, harmony and amity. Carefully rip them out and apply glue to attach the magazine paper to the glass.
- 4). Brush over the entire glass when you have the desired collage effect and let dry. Meanwhile, construct the mobile frame.
- 5). Cut one dowel to14 inches long and sand the surface. Take the other dowel and cut it to 7 inches long and sand the ends. Spray with paint and let dry.
- 6). Drill a hole in the center of the 14 inch dowel. Underneath the dowel at each end, insert an eyelet screw. Do the same to the smaller sized dowels.
- 7). Cut a piece of cord 30 inches long and thread it through the center of the 14 inch dowel. At the halfway mark, tie a secure knot at the bottom of the largest dowel. Hang one glass piece from each end with a length of filament pushed and knotted through the hook of the screw. Adjust to the desired length you wish them to hang from the mobile and knot.
- 8). Attach the second dowel in the same manner as above. Secure with a knot at the bottom. Hang one glass piece at each end to balance. Apply the same process as in step 7. Experiment with the length so that the objects are balanced when hung. Screw a hanging hook into the ceiling and hang the mobile.
