How to Install a CD Receiver in a 1994 Geo Prizm
- 1). Pull the climate control knobs off of the climate control assembly. Grasp and pull them away from the assembly to remove them.
- 2). Place a standard head screwdriver behind the center trim panel, located around the climate controls and radio, and gently pry it away from the dashboard. Apply force from the rear of the panel to dislodge the retaining clips on the back of the panel.
- 3). Unscrew the four retaining screws on the sides of the radio with a Phillips head screwdriver.
- 4). Pull the radio from the dashboard and unplug the electrical connections from the back of the radio.
- 5). Mount the CD receiver in the Scosche TGN2100B stereo mounting kit. Instructions on how to mount the receiver in the kit are included with the kit.
- 6). Plug the Scosche IM01B stereo harness into the stereo adapter coming from the dashboard, which was previously plugged into the rear of the old radio.
- 7). Pull the ends off of the wires coming from the plug on the back of the CD receiver as well as the plug coming from the dashboard. The ends of the wires are pre-stripped, allowing the ends to be pulled off without using wire strippers. Twist the similar-colored wires together and cover the exposed wiring with electrical tape.
- 8). Push the CD receiver into the slot in the dashboard. Install the retaining screws with a Phillips head screwdriver.
- 9). Push the center trim panel against the dashboard, engaging the retaining clips on the rear of the panel with the dashboard.
- 10
Push the climate control knobs onto the climate control assembly.
