Making the decision to file for bankruptcy is one of the toughest you will make in your life.
All of your debt has now been discharged and you feel great, now comes the hard part! Don't mess it up! After your bankruptcy you are now on credit score thin ice.
You have ten years to wait before the bankruptcy is off of your credit report.
And ten years to walk the straight and narrow while making every payment on time.
It is extremely easy to fall back in to your old spending and debt creating habits after you have been given the clean state, but you cannot.
If you revert to your old ways you are going to land in the same mess that you were before your bankruptcy.
The problem with this (it's not the only one) is that you are not going to be able to file bankruptcy again.
You will be eternally blacklisted from getting any sort of credit ever again.
I'm sure that with your bankruptcy proceedings you also got a few lessons in budgeting and tracking your spending to help you stay out of that situation.
These can be some of the most important financial lessons you will ever learn.
Building a budget and sticking to it will allow you to pay all of your monthly bills on time and prevent you from getting back in to trouble.
If you are tracking every dollar that you spend you will always know what is in the bank and where you stand for getting your bills paid that month.
The ball is in your court now, don't double dribble!
