Radio Controlled Boats Run Time
When you get involved in the hobby of radio controlled boats, you have a couple of decisions to make.
The first one is, go with electric boats, or those boats that run on fuel (usually nitro)? Electric boats are generally less expensive, and most of them are slower than nitro boats...
so ease of handling is a consideration for the beginner.
So, how long does a boat with an electric motor run? This type of boat relies on batteries or battery packs to run.
You can get anywhere from 10-20 minutes of run time from your battery pack, depending on the quality of the battery.
It will take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour to recharge a battery, but most enthusiasts have at least one extra set charged and ready to go.
Obviously the more 'extra' batteries you have, the longer you can run your electric boat without interruption! How about those nitro boats? If you choose a nitro boat, a full tank of fuel will typically get you 20-25 minutes of run-time...
of course some of that depends on your driving style and size of the fuel tank.
However, when the tank runs down all you have to do is refill it...
which should only take you less than a minute! Done...
you are off and running again.
So, you can see that to get an hour of use you will only need to fill up 2 or 3 times...
not bad! You can see that either electric radio controlled boats or their counterpart, the nitro boats can be 'refueled' and run for extended periods.
It really is a matter of preference.
As long as you are prepared, you are good to go!
