This is a new anti-aging cream from Mario Badescu. Right from the start, we suspected this was a good anti-aging choice for sensitive skin as it has no scent and just looked soothing, creamy and non-irritating. We were right! This is a great product for mature, sensitive, dry skin. It can also be used if you don’t have dry or mature skin, but in that case we recommend using it sparingly instead of every day.
After a few uses, we noticed fine lines started to disappear near our eyes and forehead. It also kept our skin looking supple and fresh. If we could change one thing about this product, we would love it if it also had SPF.
Peptide Renewal Cream - Description
This anti-aging cream comes in a 1 oz. white plastic jar with a screw lid. We weren’t thrilled by the safety foil packaging that appeared after we unscrewed the lid. It was missing a tab to pull on. We had to use a small pair of scissors to remove the foil and this caused a bit of a mess. That’s not our favorite way to start using a product and it made us wonder how others were going to open it, but luckily the product became better after that.
We weren’t sure exactly what the word “peptide” meant so when we looked up in a dictionary, we read: “Any of various natural or synthetic compounds containing two or more amino acids linked by the carboxyl group of one amino acid and the amino group of another.” Hmm…what? That’s a little too technical for us, but when we checked the Mario Badescu web site, they seemed to simplify the definition by writing “Hyaluronic Acid encourages improved moisture levels on the skin’s surface, while White Willow Bark keeps the skin looking clear and vibrant”….ok, that we could understand a little better.
The cream is a bright white color and has a thick consistency.
Although the product contains ingredients such as Nori Extract, Sorghum Bicolor Stalk Juice and White Willow Bark, (which all sound like they may have a scent) we found the cream to have no scent at all.
This product is not thin or watery so we needed to rub it in a bit, but our skin did drink it in immediately and we were not left with a greasy feeling. We found that we only needed to use a very small amount for it to be effective. We learned that we needed to pay attention to how much and how frequently we used the product. If our complexion was already hydrated, we would skip one application, but if we felt like we were having a day where we needed more, we would apply both day and night. The cream didn’t cause any breakouts, irritations or redness.
On the jar, the instructions for use are: “Apply day or night to face, neck and décolletage” and on the web site, instructions for use are: “After cleansing and toning, apply to areas of the face, neck and décolletage, day and/or night.” At the time of this review, this product sells for about $35.
Peptide Renewal Cream - Review
Things We Loved
- Non-irritating: We love a product that has no scent and also works well while not causing any irritations.
- Works Well: Once we got the hang of knowing when our face needed more or less of this product, we saw that our complexion looked brighter, tighter and well hydrated.
- The Price: We loved the $35 dollar price point for the results we received. It was refreshing to see a quality product that doesn’t cost hundreds of dollars.
Things We Didn't Love
- Foil Packaging: As we mentioned above, the safety packing caused a bit of a mess. It could be that our jar was just missing a tab for some reason, but if that is how it is always packaged, we don’t love how it caused a mess and also caused us to waste some of the product.
- No SPF: Since the product mentions that it can be used day and night, it would have been nice to see it contain SPF for day-time use.
Peptide Renewal Cream - Final Thoughts
This is a nice change of pace from some of the overly-priced, heavily scented anti-aging creams out there. It works well with sensitive skin and shows results after a few uses. It is a strong hydrator so we did have to monitor when/how much we used to make sure we didn’t over-moisturize. If your skin is oily or you don’t need that much moisturizer to begin with, this may not be a product for you. But, if you have dry, mature, sensitive skin, you may want to check this cream out.
