    • 1). Set an appointment with your local county agricultural extension office and visit with one of the representatives to discuss your desire to grow red winter wheat organically, and use all of the resources the representative gives you for your planning phase.

    • 2). Read and fully understand the federal government's "e-CFR" agricultural guidelines found on the web (see the first link in References) to ensure you are going to be absolutely capable of fulfilling the requirements for organic certification of your harvested grains.

    • 3). Locate one or more possibly suitable plots of land where you will be able to grow your organic red winter wheat. When you have located your potential plots of land, make sure there is an ability to set up a pivot sprinkler or room to lay out the necessary gated pipe for irrigation.

    • 4). Work with your county agricultural extension office as a liaison to the Department of Agriculture to arrange soil samples to be taken from lands on which you desire to grow the wheat. The soil samples will be analyzed to determine if the soil is free from artificial fertilizers, chemicals and pesticides.

    • 5). Rent the necessary farm tractors, soil-working equipment and grain planting drill to prepare the soil and to then plant your crop once the USDA has given your chosen land an organic certification. Irrigate your crop as necessary and refrain from using any pesticides or artificially produced fertilizers for the duration of your growing season.

    • 6). Harvest and market your organic red winter wheat proudly as "certified organic."
