Set the spray mechanism to full spray. Spray a small area of the wall near a seam. Let the mixture saturate the paper for five to 15 minutes. - 3). Pull at the paper to test if the adhesive contact has loosened. Pull the paper slowly away from the wall. If the wallpaper paste is thick, you may need to add more spray to loosen it. This test piece will show you if a deeper liquid saturation is needed for the remaining wallpaper. Pull the paper only until it resists. Push the scraper under the edge of the paper to pry it away from the wall carefully. You do not want to tear the drywall paper. Place removed paper directly into a garbage bag to prevent paste stains on the flooring.
- 4). Work in small sections of the wall to prevent smudging and stains on the wall space.
- 5). Wash the walls thoroughly with warm water and all-purpose detergent with a sponge. This will remove all glue residue and fabric softener. All adhesive must be removed to prep the wall for new wallpaper or paint.
