How to Add a Pocket to a Knitted Wrap
- 1). Cast on 40 stitches. Begin by making a slipknot. Hold the yarn in the left hand while making a circle with the yarn with the right hand. Hold the working yarn behind the circle and insert the knitting needle through the circle from front to back, catch the working yarn and pull the yarn through the circle and form a loop to create a slipknot. Wrap the yarn around the thumb, starting the outside. Slip the needle under the nearest yarn, from bottom to top, this is the first regular stitch, count the stitches make sure there are two. Repeat the regular stitch cast on thirty-eight more times.
- 2). Knit every row, until the pocket measures seven inches from the beginning. Knit by holding the needle with the stitches in the left hand. Wrap the yarn around the right hand's fingers. Insert the empty needle through the first stitch from bottom to top, wrap the yarn between the two needles, from back to front. Catch the yarn with the right hand needle, pull the yarn down and through the stitch, carefully, remove the stitch from the left hand needle. This is a knit stitch.
- 3). Bind off all the stitches. Knit the first two stitches, then slip the first stitch over the second and off the needle. Repeat across the row. Cut the yarn 24 inches from the pocket, leave it attached to the pocket.
- 4). Locate the area to attach the pocket to the wrap. Thread the yarn needle and sew the pocket to the wrap on three sides of the pocket, leaving the top free. Stitch using any stitch desired. Repeat the entire process for a second pocket.
