How to Install a 7-Way Connector on a 2007 Ford F150
- 1). Attach the mounting bracket to the vehicle's bumper by turning two self-tapping screws through the bracket and into the bottom of the bumper with a drill.
- 2). Insert the 7-way connector inside the mounting bracket and secure it with the supplied nuts and bolts.
- 3). Remove the spare tire of the vehicle by following the directions in the owner's manual.
- 4). Look up under the rear of the vehicle at the driver's side frame rail. The stock wiring harness for the trailer package will be located there. If it is leads to a 4-way connector, disconnect it using a screwdriver to pry open the lock and pull it apart.
- 5). Connect the 7-way wiring harness's connector to the vehicle's trailer wiring harness by snapping the two connections together.
- 6). Remove the ground screw beside the harness on the frame rail and attach the white wire from 7-way connector under it and tighten the screw.
- 7). Connect the other end of the wiring harness to the back of the 7-way connector. They will slide together and lock into place.
- 8). Open the hood of the F150 and remove the cover to the main fuse panel. Install the fuses provided in the aftermarket trailer wiring kit into the proper locations in the fuse panel. Your owner's manual will explain which fuse locations power the trailer wiring.
